São Paulo – The Brazilian Ministry of Agrarian Development and the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries will sign a cooperation agreement for rural development and family agriculture in the Arab country. The respective ministers, Afonso Florence (Brazil) and Aziz Akhannouch (Morocco) should sign the deal next Saturday morning in the city of Meknes.
The agreement is for technical cooperation, according to the Ministry’s press office. Morocco is interested in Brazilian agricultural technologies, especially for family farming. The aim of the deal is to promote the exchange of experiences and specialists in the family farming, practices in the semiarid, food security, rural development, technical assistance and rural extension.
The signing will take place during the Salon International de L’agriculture au Maroc – International Exhibition of Moroccan Agriculture (Siam), in which Brazil is represented. At the fair, which began last Wednesday (27th) and will continue until next Sunday (1st), minister Florence should also meet with the Algerian minister of Agriculture, Said Barkat. The salon should be an opportunity for the minister to talk to African government.
The Siam is in its sixth edition and will cover an area of 100,000 square metres. Meknes, where the fair is held, is one of the agricultural regions of Morocco. The fair’s organizers are expecting 650,000 until Sunday. The Siam will feature approximately 800 exhibitors, of which 100 should be foreign, from 30 different countries.
