Brasília – In January, Brazil created 77,822 registered jobs, according to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (CAGED) released this Friday (2) by the Ministry of Labor. The result is the best for the month since 2012, and it’s the first time since 2014 that hiring surpasses terminations. In the period, 1.3 million people were hired and 1.2 million people were dismissed.
Year-over-year, from February 2017 to January, 83,500 registered jobs were created. This latest data shows that, in 2017, Brazil had a deficit, with 20,800 jobs being eliminated.
According to the publication, the average wage of those terminated in the month, with inflation-adjusted numbers, were BRL 1,636.41 (USD 516.12). Meanwhile, the average wage of those hired were lower at BRL 1,535.51 (USD 484.30).
