São Paulo – Eight Brazilian companies are going to participate in the 45th Algiers International Fair, to take place from May 30th to June 5th, in the Algerian capital. Participation of Brazilian companies is organized by the Trade Promotion Sector (Secom) at the Embassy of Brazil to the Arab country.
At a 108 square meter space, the Brazilian stand should bring together companies Nutrimarcas, Brasfood, Novo Mel, Jazam, Predilecta, Trapp and Andrade Gutierrez. The fair is multisectorial. The Brazilian companies participating are in the sectors of food, metallurgy and construction. Apart from attracting businessmen the event is open to the public in general.
“We have been participating in the fair for several years. The importance of Brazilian participation is to mark presence in the Algerian market with varied products,” said Sérgio Pena, the head of the Secom. He says there are good opportunities for Brazilian companies, especially in the food sector. “It is a sector in which Brazil has grown much in the market. The Algerians seek better and more competitive prices and Brazil is entering the market with success,” he pointed out.
Nutrimarcas wants to make use of its first participation in the fair to enter the Arab market through Algeria. “We want to export juice in pet bottles, 100 gram pouches and mixed beverages in long-life packages,” said Ricardo Melo, the export manager at the company. Currently, the organisation exports mashed fruit in drums for industrial use to the United States and countries in Europe. “I should visit some supermarkets and factories there too,” he said.
Metalúrgica Trapp, from Santa Catarina, already exports to 60 countries, among them Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Now, the organisation has also decided to participate in Algiers international fair for the first time.
“We are seeking a distributor,” said Marco Boehringer, Foreign Trade manager at Trapp. “In our agricultural line we have a grain cruncher. It is a product that we sell to 20 countries in Africa and we want to enter Algeria,” he explained. The company turns 15% of produce abroad. The main clients are in South America, Africa and Asia.
