Brasília – The Brazilian balance of trade recorded a US$ 427 million surplus in the second week this month. During the period, exports totalled US$ 4.099 billion and imports reached US$ 3.672 billion, according to data disclosed by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade this Monday (16th).
In the first two weeks of the month, exports totalled US$ 8.517 billion and imports, US$ 7.147 billion, resulting in a US$ 1.370 billion surplus.
From January until the second week of August, the surplus was US$ 10.603 billion, as against US$ 18.433 billion in the same period of 2009. Year-to-date, exports totalled US$ 115.377 billion and imports, US$ 104.774 billion.
The financial market expects the surplus to reach US$ 15 billion by the end of the year.
