São Paulo – Next Tuesday (10th) in São Paulo, the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex, in the Portuguese acronym) and the Brazilian Contemporary Art Association (ABACT) will sign an agreement to promote Brazilian art abroad. It involves 37 galleries.
According to a statement issued by the Apex, the agreement will last two years and provides for Brazilian galleries to take part in international fairs, such as the Art Basel, in Switzerland, the Mercosur Biennial, in Brazil, Frieze, in the United Kingdom, Art Basel Miami Beach and Armory Show, both in the United States, and SP Arte, in São Paulo. The signing of the agreement will take place during the pre-opening of SP Arte.
The Apex informs that from 2007 to 2010, the project was run in partnership with the São Paulo Biennial Foundation. Last year, exports resulting from the agreement generated US$ 10 million in revenues. In 2009, revenues reached US$ 15 million.
Still according to the agency, the leading markets for the project in 2010 were the United States, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates and Sweden.
