São Paulo – An executive in the commercial field, Paulo Siqueira decided to be an entrepreneur two years ago and wagered on corporate social network Workmessage. He invested R$ 350,000 (roughly US$ 138,000) on hiring specialized company Ksys to develop the website in over 30 different languages, including Arabic. Now he is seeking out partners in Arabic-speaking countries to sell his project.
Workmessage is a social network targeting businesses only. The goal is to integrate employees from different companies, such as clients and suppliers, for instance, without losing focus on the job.
“I am in touch with lots of executives. They say that whenever employees go on other social networks, they spend too much time discussing private affairs. At times, they spend up to four hours on social media discussing subjects unrelated with the company,” says Siqueira.
In order to register on Workmessage one must have a Brazilian taxpayer’s registration number (CNPJ). For foreign users, the website requires local proof that the user is a legal entity. After that, the employees of the registered company can send invitations to their professional contacts. The network features user profiles and enables conversations between companies’ employees. All published contents and discussions are monitored by the companies registered on the website.
In addition to Portuguese and Arabic, Workmessage is available in languages such as English, Spanish, German, French and Mandarin, among others. “The system detects where the user is logging from and automatically connects in local language,” says Cioney Giovanella, the director of Ksys, the Santa Catarina-based company that developed the website.
Similar other social media, Workmessage features a timeline, a message exchange service, file sharing and video conferencing. The website is free for users, and companies deciding to invest in joining earn revenue from advertising banners. “The banners can be global, national or local,” says Giovanella.
Siqueira owns the global patent for Workmessage. The businessman is seeking out local partners in different countries to take his service abroad. “I need partners who are familiar with local culture and possesses the investment ability needed for solid development,” he says. According to the executive, the service can be made available in any Arab country. “In case I find an investor interested in developing our site, we will talk and consider the possibilities,” he said.
