São Paulo — Brazilian exports to Algeria are up 6.6% this year, totaling USD 1.6 billion, according to data from Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade, compiled by the Market Intelligence Department of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC). Imports, meanwhile, are declining, down 22.7% to USD 728.8 million from January through August.
Brazil’s main exports to Algeria include sugar, soybeans, iron ore, corn and beef. Sugar exports totaled USD 445.6 million through August, down 23.6% from the same period in 2025. Iron ore exports rose 72.5% to USD 442.9 million.
Crude oil was Algeria’s main export to Brazil, totaling USD 532.6 million and remaining virtually unchanged from last year, down 0.09%. Shipments of nitrogen fertilizers also fell 35.6% through August, to USD 119.7 million. Refined petroleum exports dropped 66.1%, to USD 66.2 million over the period.
Brazil’s trade surplus with Algeria reached USD 905.6 million through August, up 53.3% from January-August 2025. Total trade fell 4.6% to USD 2.3 billion.
