During the 2018/19 crop, three of the five top destinations of the Brazilian commodity were Arab countries. The National Supply Company is expecting a record ethanol output.

Blairo Maggi made an assessment of his term and said he recommended to the future Minister Tereza Cristina that she travels to countries of the region at the very beginning of the new government. He added that Brazilian agribusiness should achieve a new export record in 2018, with USD 100 billion.
Exports to the region were down 19% from January through November to USD 2 billion, but the industry association expects a rebound in 2019. Saudi Arabia, the biggest market, is expected to increase its imports again.
This year should see 59.6 million 60-kg bags harvested, as per a November survey from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
In line with the upward trend of the past few years, foreign sales are expected to reach 1.62 million tons in 2018 – the biggest volume ever shipped from Brazil. Revenues are seen climbing 7.4% to over USD 6.5 billion.

Foreign sales by the industry amounted to USD 8.48 billion. Soy was the top seller at USD 2.62 billion shipped out, up 78.8% from a year ago.
