Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture numbers show the country exported USD 2.7 billion worth of the product from January to July, a 25% drop over the comparable year-ago period.

Exports to the region totaled USD 97 million in July, an increase of 14% over the same month of 2015. Year-to-date, revenues with shipments went up 10%.
The region’s estimated capacity within five years is 43.1 million tons. Demand from countries including Brazil has given the local industry a boost.
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) forecasts a 189 million-ton harvest of grains, oilseeds and pulses in Brazil, down 9.8% from 2015 numbers.
An international index measured by the FAO eased in July after increasing for five back-to-back months.
The region, which had accounted for 17% of the Brazilian company’s exports in H1 2015, was the target of 21% of sales in H1 2016. Iraq, Iran, Palestine and the UAE all stepped up their purchases.
Volume and revenues, however, went down in July in comparison to the same period in 2015, according to data released by the sector’s association.
Exports climbed 27% in volume and only 1% in revenue in the first half, reflecting a widespread drop in international prices.
Study by the Ministry of Agriculture and by research company Embrapa shows that Brazil will add 58.8 million tons to its crop results until 2025/2026 crop year.
The region imported 585,000 bags of Brazilian coffee in this year’s H1. Revenues also decreased 27%, standing at USD 77.5 million.
It’s a 3% drop over last year, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture. Southern region tops the production value list.
Shipments abroad went up 13.8% in volume and 21.7% in revenues in reais in H1, but dollar revenues dropped. Saudi Arabia was the largest buyer with the UAE in the fifth spot.
The volume shipped from Brazil to other countries in the first half of this year was 712,000 tons, while 635,000 tons were shipped in H1 2015. Sales to Egypt soared by 20%.
In the first six months of the year, foreign sales of livestock and agriculture products from Brazil grossed USD 45 billion. The Middle East was one of the top buying regions.
