Sales from Brazil declined year-to-date through April this year from the same period in 2013, to US$ 4 billion. Good news include higher shipped volume for meats year-to-date and for ore in April.

In the third week of May, exports surpassed imports by US$ 563 million. In the first and second week, gains were US$ 226 million. Year-to-date, however, the result shows a deficit of US$ 4.777 billion.

According to figures compiled by the Brazilian Statistics Institute and issued by an industry association, clothes production increased in Brazil in Q1 this year, but textile output was down.

Brazil’s state-owned oil company Petrobras had an all-time high output, exceeding 470,000 barrels per day month-to-date until May 11th. Production originated from 24 wells.

Between January and April, Brazil exported 452,500 tonnes to the region, a volume 5% smaller than in the same period in 2013. Overall, the quantity shipped by the country grew 1.1%.

The estimate for 2014 was released by the oil company’s chairwoman Graça Foster during a conference with investors. Operating profit was up and net income was down in Q1.
