The number of mergers and acquisitions in the industry in Brazil were down in quarter three, according to a survey by KPMG. Only eight operations took place, but an increase is expected.

The group posted a 3.5% decline in foreign sales revenues from January to September. Low economic growth affected overall business, but the company is expecting a recovery.

In September, the volume of oil and gas extracted from the underground layer was the highest ever – 220,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day, according to the National Petroleum Agency.

According to the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association, 341,644 new units were sold in October in Brazil, an increase over September. Sales were up by a higher rate, 21.8%, from October 2011.
