São Paulo – This Tuesday (13th), the editor-in-chief of newspaper Kuwait Times, Abd Al-Rahman Alyan, and journalist Javaid Ahmad, also from the newspaper, visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce , in São Paulo, and were received by CEO Michel Alaby. They are in Brazil by invitation of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex).
Alaby discussed Brazilian exports, foreign investment in the country, and the Chamber’s work in promoting economic relations with Arab countries.
He said, for instance, that the Chamber intends to establish a Brazil-Kuwait Business Council and eventually organize a trade mission to the Middle Eastern country. The Arab Brazilian Chamber already has a memorandum of understanding with the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aiming to encourage cooperation actions.
The Apex usually invites foreign journalists to Brazil as a means to promote the country overseas, especially with regard to business opportunities. The Kuwaitis have already spoken to poultry and beef industry representatives, Halal slaughter certifier organizations (which slaughter in accordance with Islamic law), and paid a visit to the Embraer plant, in São José dos Campos, São Paulo.
The journalists were accompanied by the Apex’s CEO for the Middle East, Sidney Costa. Founded in 1961, Kuwait Times was the first newspaper in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which includes Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Oman, aside from Kuwait itself.
