São Paulo – Brazilian coffee exports grew 8% in volume in February this year as against the same period last year. According to figures disclosed by the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafé) next Thursday (7), in February, 4.7 million bags were shipped. Revenues obtained dropped 19.6% and totalled US$ 933.4 million.
In the evaluation of the director general at Cecafé, Guilherme Braga, the volume of exports is “good” when considering the unstable market. “The tendency for buyers and sellers is to be in a position of expectation and to postpone transactions while waiting for better negotiation chances,” he said, according to a press statement disclosed by Cecafé.
In the crop year, in turn, the sector records a drop of 5.2% in transfers between July and February. In the period, exports totalled 20.3 million bags, which resulted in revenues of US$ 4.1 billion.
