Alexandria – The Brazilian market was the subject of a meeting at the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce in Alexandria (AlexCham) this week and could also be the theme of a workshop for the Egyptian institution’s members. The regional director of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) Office in Cairo, Michael Gamal, and the director of International and Government Relations of the office, Rania Hagrass, were received at the AlexCham and spoke with the advisor for International Cooperation for Foreign Affairs of the organization, Passent Magdy Kassem.
The group proposed signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two chambers, which was proposed during a previous visit by a mission from the ABCC last July, in addition to the future holding of a workshop to present business opportunities in Brazil to entrepreneurs from Alexandria.
Gamal said the volume of Egyptian exports to Brazil has been increasing since the entry into force of the Egypt-Mercosur free trade agreement in 2017, surpassing USD 600 million in 2022. New products such as dates, grapes, glassware, garlic, citrus fruits, and fertilizers have entered the Egyptian export basket. He stated the Brazilian market is promising and prepared for Egyptian exports.
Hagraas spoke about the services the ABCC offers to its members. She highlighted market studies and meetings between businesspeople from both regions and mentioned participation in major trade shows and the organization of customized trade missions. Kassem said the AlexCham has great businesspeople in different sectors interested in the Brazilian market, both for exports and imports.
