São Paulo – The International Relations director at the Export Development Bank of Egypt (EDBE), Tareq Adly, and its head of International Public Relations, Noha Ahmed, were in Brazil this week to attend meetings with Brazilian banking institutions. The aim was to gain greater knowledge of the Brazilian economy and consider possibilities of partnerships.
The EDBE provides short-, medium- and long-term financing lines and export credit guarantees to Egyptian enterprises.
According to information from the press office at the National Development Bank (BNDES), during a visit to its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, the Arab executives spoke to technicians in the areas of Enterprise Internationalization and Exports.
The matters discussed included the possibility of the EDBE providing guarantees to Egyptian companies willing to export their products to Brazil. According to the BNDES, it may come to effect, provided that the Arab bank will open a line of credit with the Brazilian institution.
At the Bank of Brazil, in São Paulo, the EDBE executives met with Relations sector representatives. According to the press office, during the meeting, they discussed the macroeconomic scenario in Brazil and Egypt and sought business opportunities.
During their stay in Brazil, Adly and Noha also attended a dinner with members of the board at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. "They are looking to sign agreements with local banks, aiming at obtaining lines of credit to import Egyptian products and export Brazilian products to Egypt," said Salim Taufic Schahin, the president of the organization. "I have placed the Chamber at their disposal to help them with their needs," he finished off.
