São Paulo – Two companies from Egypt are going to show their products at the 34th International Fair of Leather, Chemicals, Components and Accessories, Equipment and Machinery for Footwear and Tanneries (Fimec), to take place from April 13 to 16 in the city of Novo Hamburgo, in Rio Grande do Sul. The companies participating are Baramki, a producer of rubber and EVA, and Neolite Egypt, of rubber resin, according to information supplied by the fair organizers.
Barakmi is headquartered in Cairo and produces rubber and EVA, as well as other components for shoes, like soles and heels in PVC. The company was established in 1984 and uses Italian technology. It sells both to the domestic market in Egypt, where it is well known, and to the foreign market. Of all production, just 60% is exported to countries like Venezuela, Colombia, Italy, Greece, Romania, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Pakistan and Iran. Barakimi has 250 employees.
Neolite Egypt is the leader in production of rubber resin and expanded rubber in the Middle East. It was established in 1958, by Antoine Asfar and was born specialized in EVA sheets for sandals. The company exports to 14 countries in several regions of the world. Among the nations that buy the products are countries in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and America. In South America the buyers are Brazil, Argentina and Colombia.
Fimec is the most traditional fair for machinery and components for the leather and shoe industry in Brazil. The Arabs, as well as exhibitors, tend to participate in the fair. Last year, Fimec received 50,000 visitors from 48 countries. A total of 11 exhibitors came from Saudi Arabia, five from Egypt, four from Syria and four from Tunisia. Of all the people who participated in the fair, 46,000 were Brazilians, 35.2% in the shoe sector and 15.7% in leather.
The organizers hope to receive 50,000 visitors in this edition. The exhibitors should show over 1,200 brands from 22 countries. Brazil is among the world’s three most important suppliers of machinery and equipment for leather and shoes and concentrates its main product releases at Fimec. Fimec takes place at the Fenac Exhibition Park, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
