São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates were the country that purchased most Brazilian shoes, among the 20 main destinations for the product on the foreign market in the first months of this year. According to figures disclosed by the Brazilian Association of Shoe Manufacturers (Abicalçados), the Arab nation bought 81.3% more in values and 21.4% more in volume, as against the same period in 2012.
The Arab country spent US$ 2.68 million with purchases of Brazilian shoes in January and February this year, against US$ 1.48 million in the first two months of last year. The total number of pairs shipped was 158,800, as against 130,800 in the previous year. The average price of pairs shipped has also grown, from US$ 11.33 to US$ 16.92.
The United Arab Emirates are the main target market of the Brazilian Footwear, a programme for promotion of Brazilian shoes on the foreign market, developed by Abicalçados in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex).
