São Paulo – Foreign tourists increased their spending in Brazil by 9.2% between January and April this year, according to data released on Tuesday (26) by the Ministry of Tourism. International visitors’ expenditures during the period totaled BRL 20.2 billion. In the first four months of 2025, spending had reached BRL 18.5 billion (USD 3,7 billion).
In a statement, the Ministry of Tourism also reported that spending rose in April, increasing from BRL 4.14 billion (USD 824 million) in 2025 to BRL 4.19 billion (USD 834 million) this year, a 1.2% year-on-year expansion.
During a trip to China, Tourism Minister Gustavo Feliciano said Brazilian tourism is “experiencing a special moment” and that the ministry has been making efforts to attract visitors from other countries. “More than boosting airports, hotels, and restaurants, Brazilian tourism transforms the reality of thousands of Brazilians,” he said.
