São Paulo – The business roundtables of the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Articles and Equipment (Abimo) at the Hospitalar trade fair, due May 25th to 28th in São Paulo, will count on the participation of 23 international buyers, including Sudanese, Egyptian and Algerian. The Abimo is hoping to generate export deals worth US$ 14 million.
Aside from the Arab countries, buyers from 11 other African, European and American countries will attend. The 9th edition of the business roundtables is part of the Buyer Project, supported by the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex). “Our business roundtables have established themselves as one of the most effective tools for generating business and building a positive image of the Brazilian healthcare industry,” said in a press release the president of the Abimo, Franco Pallamolla.
Last year, the meetings at Hospitalar resulted in deals worth US$ 12.8 million. According to the executive director of Abimo, Hely Maestrello, Brazilian companies are now better prepared and qualified to export. Besides, they have amassed more certifications and experience to deal with international players.
This year, the Abimo expects the medical-hospital and dental industry to export the equivalent of US$ 650 million, representing growth of 17% compared with last year. The association is betting on market diversification. Arab countries are among the strategic target markets for Abimo, which is participating in trade shows for the industry in the United Arab Emirates on an annual basis.
The fair
The 17th edition of Hospitalar, International Trade Fair for Products, Equipment, Services and Technology for Hospitals, Laboratories, Drugstores, Clinics and Practices, will have 1,250 exhibiting companies. This year, the event is covering a 13% larger space at exhibition centre Expo Center Norte than last year. Hospitalar is one of Latin America’s leading medical-hospital industry fairs.
