Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian industrial production went down 2.4% in January of this year in comparison to December of last year. The data from the Monthly Survey of Industry was released this Tuesday (6) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
It was the sharpest decline since February 2016 and it interrupted a four-month sequence of positive results. In these four months, there was a growth of 4.3%.
In comparison to January 2017, industrial production climbed 5.7%. The positive variation was the ninth consecutive in the comparison of a monthly result with the same month of the previous year.
Year-over-year, Brazilian industrial production grew 2.8%.
