Brasília – The Brazilian trade balance started the month of September generating a surplus of US$ 138 million, resulting in exports of US$ 2.616 billion and imports of US$ 2.478 billion in the first week of September, according to figures disclosed today (6) by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
From January to the first week of this month, the surplus has totalled US$ 11.822 billion, 41.9% less than that registered in the same period of 2009 (US$ 20.351 billion). In the period, exports totalled US$ 128.712 billion and imports, US$ 116.890 billion.
In August, Brazil exported US$ 19.236 billion and imported US$ 16.796 billion, which resulted in a trade balance surplus of US$ 2.440 billion. Imports, however, grew 48.6% over August last year, whereas exports rose 32.7%.
