São Paulo – Brazilian motorcycle production was up 6.4% in March from February 2013. According to the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Autocycle, Scooter and Bicycle Manufacturers (Abraciclo), output has gone from 123,338 units in February to 131,174 in March, which the organization believes is the first sign of recovery for the industry.
In quarter one, output reached 381,708 units, down 25.1% from Q1 last year.
Motorcycle sales to dealership stood at 129,982 units in March, up 7.1% from February. The association forecasts that wholesale motorcycle sales should be up 2.4% this year and output should be up 3.7%, to 1.75 million units.
Bycicle production was down 11.*% in the first two months of this year from the same period last year, from 140,902 units in January and February 2012 to 124,257 units in January and February this year. In February, 60,696 bicycles were made, down 4.5% from January.
