São Paulo – OGX, Brazil’s largest private company in oil and natural gas exploration in the ocean, announced on Monday (28) that it has identified the presence of hydrocarbons in the Albian section (a layer formed between 112 million and 99.6 million years ago, approximately) of well 1-OGX-14-RJS, in block BM-C-40, in shallow waters in Campos Basin. The company has 100% participation in the block.
"This discovery represents an important step for OGX as it also shows the presence of hydrocarbons in the area north of our recent discoveries in Campos basin, not drilled up to now,” said Paulo Mendonça, the director general at the company.
The hydrocarbon column is approximately 60 metres with net pay (possibility of withdrawing oil) of approximately 22 meters. The drilling of well OGX-14, also known as Peró, should reach an estimated depth of 3,400 metres.
