São Paulo – A mango festival got underway on Tuesday (23) in Sohar, Oman’s North Al Batinah Governorate. Known as Mango Extravaganza 2026, the event aims to support the country’s agricultural sector by promoting mango cultivation, highlighting the quality of the fruit produced in the governorate, and showcasing the diversity of the region’s agricultural output, state news agency ONA said.
In addition to the objectives mentioned above, Sohar Wali Saud Mohammed Al Hinai said the festival is intended to encourage farmers and producing families to market their products and to open new opportunities for promoting local goods.
The festival will run for three days and is being organized by the Office of the Wali of Sohar in cooperation with the Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah, with the participation of farmers from across the governorate.
The festival features 45 exhibition booths showcasing a wide range of mango varieties and mango-based products. Other agricultural products and crops are also on display, including fresh dates, grapes, bananas, figs, and lemons, ONA said.
The event also presents solutions for mango orchards and agriculture in general, in addition to lectures by specialists on fruit cultivation, its techniques and challenges, and presentations of successful case studies from the sector.
