São Paulo – Residential and leisure complex Termas do Tabuleiro, an investment by businessmen of Arab origin in the state of Santa Catarina, had its first phase completed last month. According to the Jordanian-born, Brazilian naturalized Bassan Giorge Necola Hanna, one of the partners of the enterprise, 70 houses have been concluded – 40 of which have been delivered to the owners – and also the leisure area. Termas do Tabuleiro is a luxury tourism complex that includes mineral waters. Once fully completed, in addition to houses distributed in villages and the resort, the facilities will include a spa and a five-star hotel.
The second phase of the enterprise, comprising the hotel and the spa, should be completed in two years. According to Hanna, of the housing units, 70% have been sold and 30% are still up for sale. Each house costs from 750,000 to 1 million Brazilian reals (US$ 426,000 to 568,000). The complex is located in Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, in the Greater Metropolitan Region of Florianópolis, and some of the owners live there. Most of the houses, however, are second homes. The leisure area is exclusive for owners and their guests, explains the Jordanian Hanna, and includes pools, a water mirror, a gym, tennis, basketball and football courts, a restaurant and a party hall, among other facilities.
Termas do Tabuleiro will receive investment of approximately 90 million reals (US$ 51 million), under an initiative of Hanna’s, alongside his Kuwaiti partner, Khalid Rodan, by means of the Baden Baden Hotéis e Turismo company, owned by the two. According to Hanna, there is a possibility of another Arab businessman, from Saudi Arabia, joining the deal. Hanna was born in Jordan, but lived in Kuwait for several years. The businessman owns many other hotel industry enterprises in Brazil. Rodan also owns other tourism and leisure enterprises abroad, including some in Brazil, where he owns nightclub El Divino.
Termas do Tabuleiro covers an area of 39.78 hectares and is located between the Cubatão river and Serra do Tabuleiro, the largest forest reserve in the state of Santa Catarina. Out of the total plot, however, only 80,000 square metres will be used, whereas the remainder will be the project’s environmental area. The complex will use the mineral water from the local spring, which has an output of 60,000 litres per hour. The complex’s architectural design was made by Márcio and Maristela Tessmann, according to information from the Termas do Tabuleiro website.
