Brasília – The Brazilian balance of trade posted a surplus of US$ 187 million in the third week of March. Exports totalled US$ 2.34 billion and imports, US$ 2.15 billion. In the accumulated result for the year, the trade surplus went up to US$ 2.38 billion, with foreign sales at US$ 35.1 billion and imports at US$ 32.7 billion.
In comparison with 2007, imports grew by an average of 39.6% per business day, a much higher rate than that of exports, which increased 10.5% on average per business day using the same basis for comparison.
