Brasília – The Brazilian trade surplus in August reached US$ 2.234 billion, and the average per working day was US$ 148.9 million, as informed today by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
Compared with August 2009, the result represents a 2.4% increase in the daily average. Up until August 22nd, exports reached US$ 13.167 billion and imports, US$ 10.933 billion.
Year-to-date, the accumulated surplus, after 160 working days, totals US$ 11.467 billion, as a result of US$ 120.027 billion in exports and US$ 108.560 billion in imports. The daily average using the same basis of comparison was US$ 71.7 million. The surplus is 39.2% lower than from January to August of last year.
