Brasília – After having recorded a US$ 108 million deficit in the third week this month, the Brazilian trade balance recovered and posted a surplus of US$ 93 million in the four working days of last week. Up until the fourth week of this month, the trade surplus is US$ 775 million. As a result, the trade surplus from January until last week is US$ 1.667 billion, a figure 69.87% lower than the one recorded in the same period of 2009 (US$ 5.533 billion).
Last week, exports totalled US$ 3.022 billion, and imports totalled US$ 2.929 billion. In April, up until the fourth week, Brazilian foreign sales totalled US$ 11.025 billion and foreign purchases totalled US$ 10.250 billion.
From January until the fourth week of April, exports totalled US$ 50.254 billion and imports, US$ 48.587 billion.
