São Paulo – On Wednesday (25), in Amman, Jordan, the seventh edition of the Sawsana agricultural product fair should begin. The Brazilian Foreign Office is going to participate in the event with an 18-square-metre stand. According to the Itamaraty, the presence of the ministry in the event will be institutional and was organized by the trade promotion department of the Brazilian embassy in Amman.
Apart from Sawsana, other fairs to take place in the sideline are Vetrana, of veterinary products, and IRIS, in food. Together, the three events will bring together producers of agricultural implements, farmers, and makers of animal feed, incubators and plastic products for veterinary services.
According to the organizers of the fair, Sawsana should attract investment to farming in the country. A partnership between the public and private sectors could “attract investment and increase opportunities for competitive products".
The organizers of Vetrana, to show veterinary products, in turn, say that the event is a chance for those interested in selling their products in Jordan and also in Iraq. Jordan is helping in the reconstruction of the neighbouring nation.
From January to March this year, Brazil exported US$ 42.2 million to Jordan, growth of 28.8% over the US$ 32.7 million in the same period in 2011. Chicken, giblets, boneless beef, tobacco, maize in grain and coffee were the main products exported by Brazil to the Arab country.
