Brasília – The launching of the Geostationary Satellite for Strategic Defense and Communications to space, scheduled for this Tuesday (21), was shifted to Wednesday (22), due to a general strike at the French Guiana, place chosen for the operation.
This will be the first Brazilian geostationary satellite for civil and military purposes. Purchased by Telebras, the equipment will be used for the government’s strategic communications and to expand the supply of broadband internet in the country, especially in remote areas. Near 30% of the satellite’s capacity will be dedicated to the armed forces. The satellite’s operational capacity is 18 years.
