Brasília – The cumulative trade surplus for the year, up to September 30, has reached US$25.121 billion – a new record (in 2003 the surplus was US$24.7 billion for the same period). Market forecasts for the year-end surplus are now at US$32 billion.
Exports this year, January to September, reached US$70.278 billion, with imports at US$45.157 billion.
And for the last 12 months, October 2003 to September 2004, the surplus reached US$32.172 billion, also a new record (compared to US$23.060 billion for the 12-month period ending on September 30, 2003).
As for the month of September 2004, it was the best ever, with a surplus of US$3.172 billion. Exports were up 3.2%, compared to September 2003.
