São Paulo – Vault, a company that specializes in engineering for secure environments, operates with two business divisions: architectural shielding and integrated security systems, such as access control and alarms. Last year, the enterprise, based in the city of São Paulo, exported shields for bank branches in Nigeria, and now it is planning to seek clients in the Middle East and North Africa.
"Even though Vault has never had contact with Arab importers, we are very interested in supplying the region, because we are aware of the potential for our products," said Vault’s director, Vinicius de Luca. According to him, the company also develops more complex, customized projects that maintain the architectural integrity of buildings, and shields entire rooms in houses and apartments, condominiums, banks, companies, and diplomatic offices.
"The implementation of certain projects may take up to a year, depending on the level of complexity. The knowledge amassed over the course of 25 years on the market has also granted visibility to our products abroad," he said.
Vault’s architectural shielding division, which according to Luca was the pioneering one in South America, leads the industry in Brazil, and has completed over 3,000 jobs, including the shielding of facades of buildings and diplomatic offices such as the consulates of the United States, Germany, New Zealand and Britain.
We have also developed projects for shielding areas in order to protect assets, as was the case with the Data Processing Centres of companies such as Serasa and Serpro, with mechanical and electromagnetic properties; and safe-rooms at banks and armoured car companies, in which case the entire place needs full, floor-to-ceiling protection. Vault has also developed a cork-door for radiological shielding (against neutron beams) that weighs 22 tonnes, for the new Hospital das Clínicas, in São Paulo.
Vault, which posted revenues of 12 million Brazilian real (US$ 6.7 million) in 2009, employs 65 people and made significant investment to change its factory, which has gone from an area of 850 square metres to one of 1,600 square metres. Modern machinery was also purchased, and the company also participated in more industry fairs, such as ISC Brasil and Exposec.
The company is also celebrating its entry into the corporate treasury safe market, with clients such as the Bank of Brazil and the Postal Service, with a combined total of over 1,000 safes in production; and the release of the bollard, an equipment for monitoring vehicle and pedestrian traffic in protected areas.
