Brasília – Sugarcane production should reach 694.54 million tons, as per the 3rd 2016/2017 Crop Survey released this Tuesday (20) by the National Supply Company (Conab). The amount is 4.4% higher than the previous season’s 665.59 million ton output. Harvested area is estimated at 9.1 million hectares, up 5.3%.
Sugar production should be 39.8 million tons, 18.9% higher than 33.5 million tons in the 2015/2016 harvest. Ethanol production is seen dropping 8.5% to 27.9 billion liters as a result of sugar’s profitability.
