The WTO has limited the exports of the European bloc, which basically exported refined sugar to the Middle East and Northern Africa. Now, according to International Sugar Organization economist Leonardo Rocha, some of these countries are investing in refineries and importing more raw sugar from Brazil.
Brazil is exporting more flowers. From January to September this year, shipments generated US$ 24.2 million, almost the same value as the total obtained in 2005, which was US$ 25.7 million. Still, the sector says that there is much space for expansion both on the domestic and on the foreign market.

From the Newsroom* São Paulo – Brazilian exports of chicken meat generated US$ 251.5 million in September, which represented a 24.15% reduction when compared to the same period last year. Shipment totalled 209,560 tonnes, a reduction of 17.83% in the same comparison. The figures were disclosed yesterday (18) by the Brazilian Poultry Exporters Association (Abef).
Representatives of 35 countries, among them Saudi Arabia, are participating in the 9th International Working Conference on Stored Product Protection in the city of Campinas, in the interior of the state of São Paulo. This is the first time that the event, which takes place every four years, occurs in Brazil.
Shipments reached US$ 353 million, but grew only 7.67% in terms of volumes shipped. The main destinations in the month were Russia, Egypt and Holland. In the first nine months of the year, shipments brought revenues of US$ 2.8 billion, presenting growth of 17.58%. The volumes shipped rose just 3.57% in the period.
