São Paulo – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has launched a webpage to receive donations to victims of the conflict in Iraq. The donations can be made in real (i.e. Brazilian currency) on the webpage www.acnur.org/emergencia-iraque (in Portuguese). The information has been released this Wednesday (10th) by the UN agency.
According to the UNHCR, an estimated 1.2 million people have been uprooted this year in Iraq. The website accepts minimum single donations of R$ 20 (US$ 8.78) and minimum monthly donations of R$ 30 (US$ 13.18).
With the help of donations, the UN agency supplies refugees with water jerry cans, synthetic mats, thermal fleece and tents to shelter families.
