São Paulo – Electromechanical company Balestro, a manufacturer of lightning rods, isolators and transformers, is seeking a distributor to do business with the Middle Eastern and North African countries. The company, based in the city of Mogi Mirim, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, made its first contacts with Arab importers in 2005, during a seminar promoted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paulo.
"We have sent many quotations to the region ever since, but have not closed any deal yet. The product adaptations required are quite simple, and we believe that exporting through a local distributor will be the most efficient way of ensuring steady sales to the region,” says Ricardo Horácio Corral, the company’s export manager.
According to the manager, so far, most of the contacts consisted of importers from the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. The executive also claims that Iran and Turkey, which are not Arab countries but are also located in the Middle East, have already shown interest in negotiating with the Brazilian company.
Balestro specializes in manufacturing medium-voltage electric material, isolators, transformers, and lightning rods. "More than just developing products that comply with national and international regulations, Balestro develops precise solutions that meet the market’s demands and needs, ranging from serially produced items, such as lightning rods and isolators, to specific projects," says Corral.
The company, founded in 1952, employs 300 people and started exporting in the 1990s> Argentina and Peru are the company’s foremost target markets, and sales are made through local distributors. Balestro also exports to other countries, such as Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Cuba, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico.
