São Paulo – Etihad Airways, the airline based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, posted net profit in 2012. It was the company’s second consecutive year of gains. The information was released this Wednesday (23rd), although the exact amount was not disclosed.
The announcement was made by James Hogan, president and CEO, during the Annual Global Airfinance Conference in Dublin, Ireland. In 2011, Etihad posted a US$ 14 million profit. The financial statements for 2012 will be released in February.
“We are set to post our second successive profit which is rare in the current uncertain economic climate and illustrates the impact and success that the Etihad Airways’ unique business model has made,” said Hogan, according to a press release.
