São Paulo – Global production of sugar should go up 2.9% in the 2016/2017 crop in comparison to 2015/2016, reaching 178.5 million tons, according to data released by consulting firm INTL FSCStone.
Even so, there production should fall short of consumption by 7.8 million tons, causing large amounts of stockpiles to be used. Stockpile usage, however, will be the lowest since the 2010/2011 crop.
