Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production was down 1.3% in March from February in Brazil, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported this Friday (3). February had seen production climb 0.6% over January, Output slid year-on-year in March (-6.1%), in the moving quarter average (-0.5%), year-to-date through March (-2.2%) and in the 12 months through March (-0.1%).
Sixteen out of 26 industrial activities slowed in March from February, especially food products, down 4.9%. Production was down 3.2% for automobiles, trailers and bodies, 2.7% for oil products and biofuels, 1.7% for extraction industries and 3.3% for chemicals.
