São Paulo – The Kuwait-based airline Jazeera Airways posted a growth of 50% in the number of passengers in H1 2018, reaching nearly 900,000 people, according to the website Arabian Business.
The company also posted a growth of 43% in revenues and of 6.4% in net profit in H1 2018. According to the website, the number of passengers was driven up due to a series of new routes and added capacity.
Jazeera Airways president, Marwan Boodai, told Arabia Business that “despite the hike in fuel prices during the first half of the year and a volatile competitive landscape that depressed yields, we are pleased to see the efforts and investments throughout 2017 and 2018 are delivering results and attracting more people to fly Jazeera Airways.”
Boodai said that this year the carrier added two Airbus A320 aircraft to the fleet and opened its own terminal at Kuwait International Airport, plus the launching of five new routes. He added that the rest of the year looks promising with a very active summer season.
Jazeera Airways flies to 27 destinations in thirteen countries. They are: Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, India, Georgia, Turkey and Iran. The carrier was founded in 2004 and serves over 1.2 million passengers per year.
