Brasília – The trade balance surplus of Brazil in May reached US$ 3.443 billion, 31.2% more than in the same period in 2009 (US$ 2.623 billion), according to figures disclosed by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, disclosed today (1).
This was the largest monthly balance this year and also the highest since June last year (US$ 4.604 billion). In May, exports totalled US$ 17.702 billion and imports, US$ 14.259 billion.
From January to May, the trade surplus of US$ 5.617 billion is 39.6% lower than that observed in the same period in 2009 (US$ 9.304 billion). Exports totalled US$ 72.093 billion and imports, US$ 66.476 billion.
