São Paulo – Brazilian poultry exports amounted to 302,700 tonnes in September, down 1% from September 2012. Revenues stood at US$ 582.3 million, down 7.9% from September 2012, according to figures issued this Tuesday (1st) by the Brazilian Poultry Union (Ubabef).
Year-to-date through September, 2.865 million tonnes of poultry were shipped from Brazil, down 2% from the same period in 2012. However, revenues were up 6.7% to US$ 5.993 billion. “We were expecting to see results similar to those of August; however, climate issues in South Brazil slowed down shipments in the last ten days of the month. We believe in a rebound in November,” said the Markets director at Ubabef, Ricardo Santin.
