São Paulo – the Brazilian Poultry Union (Ubabef) has reported this Tuesday (4th) that poultry export revenues stood at US$ 567 million in January, down 4.2% from January 2013. A total of 300,000 tonnes were shipped, up 3.3%.
As a result of the US dollar’s appreciation against Brazil’s real throughout the month, revenues in reals were up 12.3% to R$ 1.35 billion. The figures include whole chickens, chicken cuts, salted poultry, and poultry-based processed foods.
“The monthly result was seen with optimism and indicates progress, recovery, and a promise of good export results for this year,” said Ubabef chairman Francisco Turra, according to a press release.
