São Paulo – The 11th edition of Gitex – Saudi Arabia will run from May 21st to 24th in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. Sponsored by the Ministry Communications and Information Technology, the event will feature enterprises active in telecommunication equipment and services, wireless computing, office automation, digital and graphical image, customer relationship management, systems, storage technology, consulting, and training, among other fields.
This year the fair will be split into two, one turned to closing actual deals and the other to introducing the latest technologies to consumers. In the business part, participants will be able to meet individually with potential partners in order to discuss cooperation and sign contracts.
According to the event website, the Saudi information and communication technology ranks among the world’s largest in terms of revenues and consumption volume, accounts for 65% of the industry in the Gulf, and received over US$ 35 billion in investment in the last ten years.
The figures show that by 2014, there will be six million broadband internet subscribers in the country, a figure equivalent to around 23% of the entire population. In 2011, Gitex featured 430 exhibitors from 300 countries and received 50,000 visitors.
