São Paulo – Saudi Arabia signed seven agreements with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (Unrwa), in Amman, Jordan, for donations amounting to US$ 111.5 million.
Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported this Wednesday (20th) that US$ 10 million will be allocated to refugees affected by civil war in Syria; US$ 15 million will go to rebuilding Lebanon’s Nahr El-Bared camp; US$ 74 million will be spent on rebuilding houses destroyed by the latest Israeli attack in Gaza; and US$ 12.5 million will be allotted to renovating and rebuilding West Bank schools and shelters.
According to WAM, since 1994, Saudi Arabia has supplied close to half a billion dollars in aid. The country is the third leading donor to Unrwa for the second straight year.
