São Paulo – Importers from Algeria and Egypt are engaging in matchmaking during the Agrishow exhibition, set to run from April 27th to May 1st in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. The Arabs were invited by an export incentive program of the Brazilian machinery industry, along with buyers from six other countries: Belgium, Canada, Singapore, United States, Philippines and Thailand.
The matchmaking event is one of the actions of the Brazil Machinery Solutions program, a partnership of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment industry (Abimaq) designed to promote the industry abroad. The foreigners are attending business meetings with Brazilian agricultural machinery and irrigation equipment makers on April 28th and 29th.
Agrishow is one of Brazil’s leading agricultural technology exhibitions and welcomes international visitors often. Last year, the show had 160,000 visitors from 71 countries, according to the organizers. The event led to deals worth a combined R$ 2.7 billion (US$ 886.5 million). There were 800 brands on display and 37 new foreign companies participated.
The exhibition features various products and services designed for precision farming, family farming, storage, soil fertilization, irrigation, livestock farming and others. Machinery and equipment are one focal points of the event, which also features research work from institutions and universities, the work of sectoral associations, financing for agribusiness and other services, software and packaging production, among others.
Attractions include “Caminho do Boi” (The Steer’s Path), which has visitors simulate the path a bull takes from when it leaves the farm to the moment it arrives at the consumer’s table. The program targets industry professionals and shows the stages a steer goes through before they become beef, including nutrition, how they are handled in the pen, sanitation, transportation and treatment in the slaughterhouse, among others.
A prize will also be awarded for best tractor of the year, covering the best designs in four tractor categories, from 80 HP to above 200 HP, and new products will be launched. The Agrishow website compensates its carbon dioxide emissions and thus was awarded a label from Site Sustentável (Sustainable Site), a pioneering organization whose goal is to neutralize CO2 emissions from websites.
