São Paulo – The new president of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), David Barioni Neto, took office last Tuesday (24th) in Brasília. He was inaugurated during a meeting of the Advisory Board, which will be chaired by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Armando Monteiro Neto.
Barioni is a business administrator, and respectively former vice chairman and chairman of airlines Gol Linhas Aéreas and TAM Linhas Aéreas, besides being a member of the boards of directors of enterprises and teaching institutions. In a statement issued by Apex-Brasil, minister Monteiro said the agency has brought in someone with a private sector background, “with a vision and a grasp of what Brazil’s global insertion represents, of circumstances outside the country, and of how trade flows operate around the world.”
Barioni said his administration will focus on efficiency and expansion. He also stressed that priority will be assigned to the United States, South America, Asia and Africa. The president of Apex-Brasil is appointed by the president of Brazil for a four-year term.
