Brasília – Brazil and Tunisia may exchange parliamentary visits with the objective of expanding political relations between both countries. This was one of the topics discussed this morning (17) by the minister of Foreign Relations of Tunisia, Abdelwahab Abdallah, and the president of the Lower House, Aldo Rebelo, at a meeting at the National Congress, in Brazilian capital Brasília.
"This meeting greatly strengthened my conviction that cooperation between both countries may have another strong boost," stated Abdallah, after the meeting with Rebelo. According to him, various themes in the bilateral agenda were discussed and the conclusion that both countries have very close political conditions was reached. "We identified a desire for cooperation in all levels of government, not only of the Executive, but also of the Legislative," added the Foreign Minister.
Abdallah invited Brazilian parliament members and Rebelo himself to visit Tunisia and stated that these closer ties help in the coordination of the positions of both countries in international forums. The meeting also included the Brazilian ambassador in Tunis, Sérgio Telles, the Tunisian ambassador in Brasília, Zouheir Allagui, and the president of the Brazil-Tunisia Parliamentary Group, senator Cristovam Buarque.
