São Paulo – Brazil’s Federal Senate and Morocco’s House of Councillors entered into a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday (21) to institutionalize and promote cooperation between the two houses. The document was signed by Eunício Oliveira, who presides over the Brazilian Senate, and Abdessamad Kayouh, vice president of the Moroccan House.
Brazil’s Agência Senado reported that actions will involve legislation and control, legislative oversight of relevant matters for Brazil-Morocco relations – particularly bilateral agreement propositions –, parliamentary diplomacy and assessment of public policies via periodical visits.
It was also agreed that a joint commission for cooperation will be created, comprising the presidents of Foreign Relations Commissions and the presidents of the parliamentary friendship groups from both houses. The Moroccan House of Councillors is the Moroccan equivalent of Brazil’s Federal Senate.
