São Paulo – Eight Brazilian companies are attending the Index – International Design and Exhibition, a furniture and decoration fair which opened this Monday (20th), in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and will continue until next Thursday (23rd).
The furniture companies Ditalia, Politorno, Saccaro, Unicasa, and Vamol, and decoration companies Luhome, A Lot Of, and Cristais São Marcos are exhibiting at the 420-square metre Brazilian pavilion. The pavilion was organized by the Brazilian Furniture project, an export-fostering initiative of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), the Federal District Wood and Furniture Industry Union (Sindimam) and the Brazilian Furniture Industry Association (Abimóvel).
The portfolios of the Brazilian companies attending the fair include furniture and decoration items for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and children. “The United Arab Emirates, whose seven territories include Dubai, rank among the main target markets for the Brazilian Furniture project. From quarter one 2012 to quarter one, 2013, furniture sales to the region were up 19%,” said Adriana Katekawa, the person in charge of the project’s commercial intelligence, in a press release.
According to a report from Ventures Middle East, the region invested US$ 7.2 billion in decoration projects in 2012, a figure that should reach US$ 9.2 billion this year, a 28% increase.
Figures supplied by the Brazilian Furniture project figures show that last year, businessmen made 824 contacts during Index Dubai, with potential partners from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, which should lead to a projected US$ 3.3 million worth of business for the participating companies by the end of the year.
